I just happened to be traipsing about the Fedora Lounge and found a link to this sparkling little gem. A Guide for Single Ladies from 1938.
Don't you think these rules (well, most of them anyway) should be revisited by today's society? I was shocked by the dancing one. I always try to be friendly with guys I dance with, just to ease the awkwardness of being so close to each other and not knowing who they are. Do you think this rule applies to guys today?

I just found this yesterday! What a coincidence!
I agree with the rules, I guess apart from the dancing one. Although, our "dancing" nowadays doesn't take much concentration, maybe if they were actually doing ballroom...the man would want to concentrate on the steps? I dunno!
:)
Because man does not want to talk while he's dancing, it takes too much concentration, durnit.
Ah, perhaps I did not make it clear that I was thinking solely of swing dancing. My mistake! For me, it's nice to chat and say hello just to break the ice. But I can certainly see how, as Blair puts it, our "dancing" doesn't require or facilitate the use of words. Now that I think of it though, it is awfully tough on the guys since they are the ones who initiate the steps (in swing dancing, I mean, since that is what I'm more familiar with). Hmm, food for thought.
